2. Shunt Wound DC Motor
A self excited motor where its field winding called shunt field and it is connected across the armature.
Speed characteristics: nearly constant or adjustable speed
Torque characteristics: medium starting torque
Uses: fan, pump, grinder, blower

Notes: to reverse the direction of rotation of the motor, interchange the brushes or reverse the connection of the field winding but not the brush.
